Schools and Colleges
One of the first decisions you have to make is to which of the University of Michigan's Schools and Colleges you should apply. Students are directly admitted to one of twelve undergraduate Schools and Colleges.
Freshman applicants
Freshman applicants are eligible to apply to one of the schools or colleges listed below. All prospective freshmen submit applications through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
- School of Art and Design*
- College of Engineering
- Interarts Performance
- Kinesiology
- College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA)
- School of Music, Theatre & Dance*
- School of Nursing
* High school students interested in applying to the School of Art & Design have the option of applying for "Dual Enrollment" with the College of Engineering; Kinesiology; the College of Literature, Science and the Arts; the School of Music, Theatre & Dance; and the School of Nursing
High school students interested in applying to the School of Music, Theatre & Dance have the option of applying for "Dual Enrollment" with LSA or Engineering.
Applicants other than those applying to the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance or the School of Art & Design may apply to only one School or College.
Transfer applicants
Transfer students also directly apply to an individual School or College. Students applying to the following Schools and Colleges submit applications through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions:
- Taubman College of Architecture + Urban Planning
- School of Art & Design (new transfers only)
- Dental Hygiene
- School of Education
- Kinesiology
- College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA)
- School of Music, Theatre & Dance
- School of Nursing
- College of Pharmacy
- Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy
