Admitted Student Checklist

Today
Congratulations! Admission letter and Campus Day 2010 invitation received.

Late January–April
Attend Campus Day 2010, a campus visitation program for admitted students and their parents.

Any time after admission, but no later than May 1
Pay $200 Enrollment Deposit online using application status. Payment of the Enrollment Deposit gives students access to their U-M email as well as the ability to sign up for orientation and housing (in early spring).

Any time after high school graduation, but as soon as possible
Request your final high school transcript, with proof of graduation, to be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Students who have completed schooling outside of the US, please refer to our international student page for specific credentials required from your country.

FINANCIAL AID

As soon as possible after October 1
Complete the College Scholarship Service (CSS) Financial Aid PROFILE to be considered for need-based University grants and scholarships. U-M’s CSS code: 1839.

As soon as possible after January 1 (and preferably by February 15)
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA to be considered for need-based and non-need-based federal and state grants, scholarships, loans, and Work-Study. U-M’s federal school code: 002325.

March 1
Suggested date by which you should submit your FAFSA and PROFILE to be considered for need-based scholarships and to receive an aid offer by the May 1 enrollment deposit deadline. For Michigan Competitive Scholarship (MCS) consideration, the federal processor must receive your FAFSA by this date.

Mid-March
On a rolling basis, students are notified by email when they have a financial aid award notice available to view/print on Wolverine Access (a password-protected University website). You will need a U-M uniqname and password or a “Friend Account” to access your award notice online. Complete and return any forms or requested information as soon as possible.

April 30
The University’s Office of Financial Aid must receive your FAFSA and PROFILE records by this date to consider you for all aid programs.

OFFICE OF NEW STUDENT PROGRAMS

Beginning mid-April or 2-3 weeks after sending enrollment deposit
Look for information on Orientation and registration. Make reservations by registering online.

Between April and July
Complete and submit your Mentorship Program application!

Early June through mid-August
Attend an Orientation session and register for classes.

Early August
Look for “Welcome to Michigan 2010” information.

August 27–August 31
International Student Orientation with registration.

UNIVERSITY HOUSING

Beginning mid-April
Residence hall and Michigan Learning Communities applications, including tentative 2010–11 room and board and apartment rate schedules, available online to students with paid/waived enrollment deposit fees.

May 1
Completed residence hall application must be submitted by specified date in order to be part of room assignment lottery. Applications received after this date will be considered for available spaces based on date application received.

July–August
Residence hall placements provided to incoming students as assignments are processed. Roommate information is sent at the start of August along with specifics about residence hall move-in.

August 31, 2010
Fall term payment for room and board due (unless on a extended payment plan).
