Transfer Writing Requirement Information
Students who have taken a first-year writing course at another college/university (in an English-speaking country) may be able to use that course to satisfy the First-Year Writing Requirement. Advanced Placement (AP) credit, creative writing, and journalism courses do not meet the First-Year Writing Requirement. If your school and course is not listed on either the approved or not-approved list, provide a course description (from the school catalog), course guidelines, and the syllabus to the Sweetland Writing Center (SWC) for review, and complete a “Petition for Transfer Course Credit” form, available at the SWC. Submit this information to Sweetland Writing Center, Associate Director, 1139 Angell Hall, 435 South State Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48109-1003.
