Experience a Slice of Life at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor! This program is for high school seniors and their parents/guardians, and it's a great opportunity to learn what it's like to be a Michigan Wolverine.
Prospective students like you will be matched with a current U-M undergrad for a “day in the life” – you'll go to class together, eat lunch in a dining hall, and join in other typical daily activities like club meetings or study sessions.
Your parents will spend the day with Admissions staff members exploring the rich array of support services available to students and learning about the U-M admissions process.
Slice of Life events are offered on Wednesday, Sept. 27; Tuesday, Oct. 3; and Thursday, Oct. 19. All events are held from 8:15 a.m. - 3 p.m. Students and parents begin their day at the Huetwell Visitors Center (inside the Student Activities Building, 515 E. Jefferson, Ann Arbor, MI 48109).
If you have a question about Slice of Life, please call the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 734-224-8384 and leave a message. Your call will be returned within 48 hours.
Please print our consent form and have your parent/guardian complete it to ensure you can participate in the day's activities. We will collect the form during morning registration.

The City of Ann Arbor Parking Structure (on Maynard St. between William St. and Liberty St.) is a convenient parking structure near the Huetwell Visitors Center which allows for all-day parking.
Short-term metered parking is also available on the streets adjacent to the Huetwell Visitors Center. However, there is a two hour limit and we do not recommend parking there.
Handicapped parking is available in all lots and structures. Display of a state handicap parking permit and payment of the hourly fee are required, unless free parking is stipulated on the handicap permit.
Visitors should be aware that the handicapped-accessible, faculty/staff designations, metered parking, and loading zones are enforced at all times.
The Slice of Life Program is an opportunity for you to visit the campus and interact with current students and an opportunity for your parents to learn more about our community of excellence, opportunity, and diversity. Prospective students like you will spend the day on campus talking to current students, faculty, and staff while your parents/guardians will have their own separate information program.
We encourage parents/guardians to visit with their students; however, it is not mandatory and some students choose to participate on their own. There will be a parent/guardian program that will consist of a panel discussion with select university departments, an Admissions Information session, walking tour of Central Campus, lunch with admissions staff, a financial aid and scholarship presentation, and more.
This program allows you to "shadow" a current University of Michigan student for the day - attending classes, eating in a residence hall, and just hanging out. Experiencing life on our campus will help you determine if the University of Michigan is a good fit for you.
For students, check-in will begin in the Huetwell Visitors Center at 8:15 a.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Students arriving after 9:00 a.m. are not guaranteed a U-M host. The Slice of Life program concludes at the Huetwell Visitors Center at 3 p.m. The parent/guardian portion also begins and concludes at the Huetwell Visitors Center and runs concurrent to the student program. Breakfast and lunch are also provided.
The Slice of Life Program is a special program just for you, a prospective student, and your parents/guardians. Due to limited space in the student program we cannot accommodate siblings. However, in the parent portion, siblings will be permitted to attend.
