FAQs

What is Campus Day?

Campus Day is a day-long event for admitted students that emphasizes the student experience. While on campus, you will learn from current students about their U-M experiences, discover academic opportunities, explore campus resources, have lunch at a residence hall, and enjoy our beautiful campus.

For more information regarding the Campus Day program, visit the main Campus Day webpage.

Which Campus Day dates are available for travel accommodations?

All Campus Day dates are available for travel accommodations while travel funding is available. Please note that travel funding is limited and given on a first-come, first-serve basis. The dates available depend on the specific school or college you were admitted to. Please log in to your  Enrollment Connect portal to see which dates are currently open and available.

What type of travel accommodations are available?

Depending on your proximity to campus, as predetermined by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, we're able to offer hotel and gas reimbursement or hotel and flight travel accommodations. If you are flying in, we will arrange ground transportation for you from Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) to Ann Arbor. For guests with hotel accommodations, you will have free shuttle access to campus.

The Campus Day program begins in the Michigan Union, located on Central Campus at 530 S. State St., Ann Arbor, MI 48109-1308. If you're attending on March 30 or April 20, Campus Day will begin at Rackham Auditorium, 915 E. Washington St. DTW is located roughly 25 minutes from downtown Ann Arbor.

Your hotel will offer complimentary continental breakfast, and your Campus Day experience includes lunch in a dining hall. You are responsible for any and all additional expenses outside of your flight, hotel, and Campus Day registration. This may include other meals or miscellaneous expenses during your travels.

If you are driving in:

  • Accommodations provided include a one-night hotel stay plus gas reimbursement (given to the student on-site after checking in at Campus Day).
  • You will receive an email from [email protected] with more information on accommodations two weeks before your scheduled program date.

If you are flying in:

  • Accommodations provided include round trip airfare for the student plus ONE guest, ground transportation to and from DTW, and a one-night hotel stay.
  • You will receive an email from [email protected] within five business days of registering for the program with instructions on booking flights. Hotel information will follow within two weeks of your scheduled program date.

When should I plan to arrive in Ann Arbor in order to attend Campus Day?

The Campus Day program begins at 7:30 a.m. ET and runs until roughly 4 p.m. ET. Therefore, it’s best for you to plan to arrive in Ann Arbor the night before your Campus Day date.

If you qualify for flight accommodations to attend Campus Day, we will ensure you’re able to fly in and out in a timely manner. This includes flying in the day before your scheduled Campus Day. All flights will arrive and depart from the Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW).

How many guests can I bring to Campus Day?

The Campus Day program can accommodate a total party of four, therefore you can bring up to three additional guests. For hotel and/or flight accommodations, you (the student) must be accompanied by at least one parent and/or guardian. We can make no exceptions to this policy.

Students MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to redeem their travel offer (regardless of whether they are flying or driving in). No exceptions.

For students with flight accommodations: We will cover flight expenses for the student plus ONE parent/guardian. Students may bring up to three guests to Campus Day, but we will not cover flight expenses for extra guests.

For students with hotel accommodations: Hotels can accommodate up to four people in the room, which aligns with the Campus Day policy of four total people in the party.

When will I receive more information about scheduling my hotel and/or flight?

If you are driving in:

  • You will receive an email from [email protected] with more information on accommodations two weeks before your scheduled program date.

If you are flying in:

  • You will receive an email from [email protected] within five business days of registering for the program with instructions on booking flights. Hotel information will follow within two weeks of your scheduled program date.

I saw an option to sign up for an Admitted Student Tour. What’s the difference between this and Campus Day?

Campus Day is a day-long experience for admitted students. As an alternative option for students who can’t make a day-long commitment, find a Campus Day date that works for their schedule, or find an open Campus Day date, they can sign up for an Admitted Student Tour. Admitted Student Tours are tailored specifically for students who have been accepted to U-M and are about 75 minutes long. To make sure as many students as possible have an opportunity to visit campus, you will only be able to sign up for Campus Day or an Admitted Student Tour, not both.
