Here’s How To Give Fall Your All

Fall is almost here. If you are anything like me, then fall is close enough that the celebrations can begin. Michigan is an amazing place and is very enjoyable during the fall, as it is not too hot, not too cold, and not too cloudy. This allows for Michiganders to spend their fall days in endless ways and make the most of indoor and outdoor activities.

Fall Foods and Beverages

The best way to kick off a fall day is to treat yourself to a fun, festive morning treat. Nearby establishments such as Sweetwaters, Cinnaholic, and Washtenaw Dairy all sell amazing options to boost your morning.

Sweetwaters Cafe, a local coffee shop, holds an array of seasonal offerings, and ensures that everyone can find something they would like. Some seasonal beverages this year include the great pumpkin latte, chai spiced cider, pumpkin pie cold brew, monster matcha, and apple cider. Starting your day off right could entail grabbing a warm beverage from Sweetwaters to set the tone.

If you are more in the mood for a treat, Cinnaholic Ann Arbor is the place to go. Known for their giant cinnamon rolls, this all-vegan bakery also boasts a bevy of fall treats. This season, they are offering a pumpkin cheesecake cinnamon roll, a pumpkin spice churro cinnamon roll, a Biscoff cheesecake cinnamon roll, and a bonfire brew cinnamon roll. If cinnamon rolls are not your thing, Cinnaholic also sells pumpkin cookies and pumpkin bread!

The breakfast options in Ann Arbor can feel endless, and sometimes you just need to keep things simple. That’s when you head over to Washtenaw Dairy. Here, you will find many options for donuts and coffee, but the cinnamon sugar roll is sure to set the fall mood.

If you have a meal plan, the university dining halls often have seasonal offerings as well. You can check the Michigan Dining website to see their daily menus, and they typically offer an assortment of sweet treats.

These delicious Ann Arbor options are all seasonal, so be sure to try them while you can!

Fall Activities

After you have perused the food scene, fall activities are next on the docket. Whatever you are looking to do, Ann Arbor has something for you. Near campus, both Wiard's Orchard and Dexter Cider Mill allow for fall activities like pumpkin and apple picking, apple cider tasting, and county fairs.

Maybe you prefer the scarier side of the season and enjoy haunted houses and attractions. In the area, Night Terrors and Hush Haunted Attractions are both great options. If you don’t mind a further drive, Jackson's Underworld and EREBUS are highly rated. Wherever you choose, you are sure to have a fun night of thrills.

These options are further from campus, yet campus holds lots of fall activities as well! The Michigan Theater and the State Theatre show all kinds of fall movies throughout the season. Showings such as Saw, Hocus Pocus, The Omen, and Vampyr occur throughout the season, but aren’t shown for long periods of time.

Spending time outdoors is also at its peak during the fall season in Michigan. Paddling a kayak down the Huron River as the leaves change is an underrated experience. A free and scenic option is to visit Nichols Arboretum, commonly known as “The Arb” or to take a stroll on North Campus. Either one will likely cause you to fall for fall.
