It’s almost here: the beginning of another a-maize-ing year at Michigan! During your first week, make sure to take advantage of all of the wonderful Welcome Week activities that will help you have a memorable, fun first week of college.

Use this guide to learn a little bit more about some of the, in my humble opinion, best events of the week!

Friday, August 30

6:45 - 8 p.m.

Post-Convocation Picnic -Held on the Central Campus under the Hatcher Library overhang, this free picnic is the perfect chance for you to meet other students and make new friends. Grab some great food, take a seat out in the Diag, and kick off the year with your fellow Wolverines.

7 - 10 p.m.
Artscapade - Following the picnic, head on over to the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA) for live music, art, games and more! While you’re there, you can learn all about the different ways you can get involved with arts on campus as a Michigan student.

7 - 10 p.m.

Escapade - Not to be confused with Artscapade, Escapade, this year in the Michigan League, is your chance to enjoy more food, scope out the League for the perfect study space, and watch cool performances.

Saturday, August 31

11 a.m.

Block M Big Photo - Don’t miss this chance to take an amazing class photo with the rest of your class at Palmer Field to commemorate the start of your college experience. Go Blue!

3 - 7 p.m.

Go Blue Mix! - Gather up a group of people and have fun at the first UMix of the year! There’s always free food, music, games, crafts, and special activities with each UMix, so be sure to check out their schedule. Best of all, UMix doesn’t just end with Welcome Week, so keep on coming out for more fun!

Sunday, September 1

9 p.m. - 1 a.m.

Meijer Back-to-College - Held at one of the most conveniently located grocery stores near campus, the Meijer Back-to-College event is the perfect chance for you to pick up anything you might have forgotten at home, enjoy free food, play games, and win prizes! Special Blue Bus shuttles will take you to and from the event all night long.

Monday, September 2

11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Northfest - Whether or not you live on North Campus, Northfest is the perfect chance for you to take a tour of North Campus and see all that it offers. You can check out different student organizations, collect swag, and discover ways you can make an impact at Michigan.

Friday, September 6

2 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Festifall - Truly the highlight of Welcome Week, you won’t want to miss this chance to check out a diverse sampling of the more than 1,600 student organizations on campus! Meet and greet with current members, sign up for some email lists, and collect all of the swag. The fair will take over most of the Diag and Ingalls Mall area, so keep an eye out for flags that mark where different groups of organizations are located. Pro tip: bring a bag to collect all of your T-shirts and other swag!

This is just a sampling of all of the Welcome Week events! Check out the full list here and get excited for Welcome Week 2019!
