With a proud tradition of academic excellence and dedication to the public good that stretches back more than two centuries, we share your commitment to integrity and service.

We value the unique experiences and perspectives that veterans and military service members bring to our diverse campus community, and provide the resources and expertise to help you find your way here and thrive.

Welcoming community

The Veterans and Military Services program will help you transition to U-M while multiple student organizations will help you connect, learn, and find your place within our campus.

Military-connected admission support

Phil Larson, our Veteran and Military Services program director, has helped hundreds of veterans and those serving in the military find a pathway to Michigan. Schedule a time to talk with him.

Peer support

Our PAVE peer mentoring program will link you with a student who is a veteran or serving in the military to provide you resources, guidance, and support as you transition to U-M. Visit the site to learn more about PAVE and meet our current PAVE advisors.

Affordability

to: We offer in-state tuition for active duty, reservists, and veterans, as well as free undergraduate tuition for families earning up to $75,000 with less than $75,000 in assets. Here’s a story about how the Go Blue Guarantee has helped a U-M veteran student during their time on campus.

We encourage you to look at our financial aid possibilities and save your VA benefits.

If you choose to use your VA educational benefits, our certification staff will help you make the most of those benefits with speedy, friendly, and informative service. To start using your benefits, please visit our Veteran & Military Services website.

Priority class registration

You’ll register first to ensure you get the classes you need when you need them. This is available for veterans, active duty military, National Guard, and drilling reservists (not ROTC).

Childcare & education

At Michigan, we understand that students who are serving in the military, or students who have separated from the military, may have childcare and children’s educational concerns as they move to Ann Arbor. We offer several options for childcare. Read more about them on the Early Childhood Education and Care website.

Award-winning VA hospital

Easy access to the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, a DVA-rated 1A facility adjacent to campus with both VA healthcare and VA benefits representatives on-campus to help serve you.

Housing

We offer two great on-campus housing options for military-connected students: Oxford Houses and Northwood apartments.

University Housing also offers 18 additional residence halls for students.
