A cross campus transfer applicant is any current or former U-M student (including U-M alumnus) who wishes to transfer from one school or college on the Ann Arbor campus to another. To apply, use our Cross Campus Transfer Application Form.

The Cross Campus Transfer Application Form must be filled out in one session only. You will not be able save a partially completed application. Please check the requirements below for the school or college you are applying to before starting the application. Please also have your essay(s) ready for uploading before beginning.

College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA)

Applicants to LSA are required to first meet with an academic advisor in the Newnan Academic Advising Center, 1255 Angell Hall.

For computer science (CS), see the CS for Current Students webpage for details beginning in winter 2024 for students who did not apply for advance selection into a CS major at the time of application but who have developed an interest in CS.

College of Engineering

Please have the following required items ready before starting the application.

  • Essay: Describe the unique qualities that attract you to the specific undergraduate college or school to which you are applying. How would that curriculum support your interests? (500 words maximum)

School of Nursing

Please refer to the nursing website for admission requirements and deadlines as well as detailed information about the required prerequisite courses for your program of study. School of Nursing applicants must read the instructions regarding prerequisites required for admission and thoroughly complete the Nursing Supplemental Form.

IMPORTANT: Application review will be delayed for candidates who fail to submit a complete Nursing Supplemental form.

Sophomore Transfer Program:

  • Essay 1: Everyone belongs to many different communities and/or groups defined by (among other things) shared geography, religion, ethnicity, income, cuisine, interest, race, ideology, or intellectual heritage. Choose one of the communities to which you belong, and describe that community and your place within it. (Approximately 250 words)
  • Essay 2: Describe the unique qualities that attract you to the specific undergraduate College or School to which you are applying. How would that curriculum support your interests? (500 words maximum)
  • Your resume
School of Music, Theatre & Dance (SMTD)

All applicants to the SMTD are required to submit an artistic profile in addition to a formal application.
