Engineering

Michigan Engineering’s transfer credit policy for winter 2020, spring/summer 2020, fall 2020, winter 2021, and spring/summer 2021 courses.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the following guidelines will apply for transfer courses taken during the winter 2020-summer 2021 terms.

Kinesiology

School of Kinesiology’s transfer credit policy for winter 2020, spring/summer 2020, fall 2020, winter 2021, and spring/summer 2021 courses.

The School of Kinesiology will follow the policy adjustments laid out by the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science and Arts (LSA) in order to minimize any negative impact of COVID-19 on Kinesiology students and their progress to degree completion.

Many courses have moved to online delivery and have created alternate grading policies including P/F options. For courses taken in transfer during this period of winter, spring and summer 2020, any pass or satisfactory grades will be recognized as a C- or higher and will be transferred in as an acceptable grade (subject to usual criteria for degree requirement credit). Any letter grades awarded must be a C or higher in order to transfer.

All courses previously evaluated and currently approved in the Transfer Credit Equivalency (TCE) will continue to be accepted even if the course was taken with a different delivery method (i.e. online) and without any additional verification process for students.

All never evaluated courses will continue to be reviewed and approved by the appropriate department to ensure they include key curricular content that is comparable (including the review of syllabi and exams), but no course should be summarily rejected solely because of the delivery method (i.e. online).

During this period, existing transfer rules are still in effect:

  • Sport Management - If you are a current University of Michigan student, you must take your Sport Management Level 1 and Level 2 classes at the University of Michigan, ie., Economics 101, English 125, Psychology 111, Statistics 250 or equivalent, Sport Management 100, Sport Management 101, Sport Management 111, Sport Management 203, Sport Management 217, Sport Management 238, Sport Management 239, Sport Management 241, Sport Management 246, Sport Management 249, Sport Management 332, Sport Management 333, Sport Management 403, Sport Management 499, and all Sport Management elective credits.

    If you received credit before you were a Michigan student, credit will be transferred per the Transfer Credit Equivalency Guide.
  • Movement Science - If you are a current Kinesiology student, you must take Movement Science 250 instead of Statistics 250. Additionally, students may not transfer in Movement Science 320, 330 and 340.
  • Applied Exercise Science - If you are planning to pursue Applied Exercise Science, Applied Exercise Science 218 (Emergency Response) must be taken through the School of Kinesiology. You must also complete Math 105 and Applied Exercise Science 220 at the University of Michigan.

LSA

Beginning fall 2021, courses that have been previously evaluated as transferable to U-M will continue to be transferable regardless of whether the course was taken online

The continued effects of COVID-19 on the teaching and learning environment at U-M and other universities require continued adjustments in our LSA transfer credit policy for courses taken during the 2020-2021 academic year. As we acknowledge the flexibility that is needed during this unusual time, the following transfer credit policies will be altered for all courses taken in the 2020-2021 academic year that are transferred in:

  • All courses previously evaluated and currently approved for transfer credit in the Transfer Credit Equivalency (TCE) will continue to be accepted even if the course was taken with a different delivery method (i.e. online) and without any additional verification process for students
  • All never evaluated courses will continue to be reviewed and approved by the appropriate department to ensure it includes key curricular content that is comparable (including the review of syllabi and exams), but no course should be summarily rejected solely because of the delivery method (i.e. online)

Important Notes:

  • For courses taken Winter/Spring/Summer 2020 only, in addition to the above policy updates, any "P" or "S" grade that is noted on a transcript as representing a C- letter grade or higher will be transferred in and accepted as an acceptable grade (subject to usual criteria for degree requirement credit)
  • Any alternate grading (e.g. P or S) that cannot be confirmed to represent the approved letter grade for transfer credit will be awarded departmental credit (regardless if the TCE indicates a direct equivalency) and students will be directed to a particular department for additional review/consideration for direct equivalent credit

All other LSA Transfer and Residency Policies will still apply.
